Edit Main Menu

Get the main menu of the Gnome Desktop Environment to display more categories and applications.
With a new ubuntu installation,all applications and menus are not displayed in the main menu.To display a complete list of applications and menus,go to Preferences and then Main Menu.To display a category,tick mark the radio button corresponding to it.If you do not want a particular entry ,then remove it from the menu by removing the tick mark from the radio button.
Click on a particular menu to edit the list of applications displayed.As an example,consider the System Tools menu.Mark the entries in this menu to display the applications you want.You can get the Root Terminal and the Floppy Formatter from this menu.Get the Bug Report Tool under the Programming menu.There are some unchecked sections in the Preferences menu also.

Even customized new menus and items can be created using the buttons provided.

gURLChecker

gURLChecker is a graphical links checker.
It does some website verifications that are presented in a nice graphical way.On opening gURLChecker click on NEW to start a new verification.Now enter the address of the link or website to be verified.Check various options that follow according to your convenience.An Authentication mode is provided that can be used if the page you wish to verify requires authentication or signing in.After getting the web address,gURLChecker does a quick check of the site or page and presents you a report.The process is very quick and just takes a few seconds.It may take a longer time to display the report if you retrieve some content from the web page.Under the check report you get to see the total number of links checked,good,bad and ignored links.Checkout the security information about the page under the Page Information section.Click on the Edit menu to choose preferences.Get down to the Filter tab to customize you content retrieval and rejection using file format extensions for images,documents,directories,domains and protocols.

Security checks can be verified under the Security tab.Once you decide to quit gURLChecker ,you get an option of saving your project.If you wish to verify a web page before browsing or downloading something from it,check it with gURLChecker.
Install gURLChecker from the Synaptic Package Manager.

Audacious is a small and fast music player that resembles winamp a lot.In fact,you can use winamp skins with it.It supports a lot of formats like mp3,wma,wav,ogg,FLAC and aac.It is a plugin based application and so you can expand it by installing varous plugins.Some plugins come with the default installation.Get Last.fm,LIRC,visualizations and an alarm support by installing the package "audacious-plugins-extra".Install "pidgin-audacious" for an integration between Audacious and Pidgin.The interface of Audacious is very similar to that of winamp and Xmms.
Audacious supports winamp equalizers that you can add from a file.You can even save your own equalizer settings.
Right click on the Audacious window to open the "Audacoius Preferences" section.Here you can customize your music player.You will also find some Audacious themes here.Checkout the screenshot for more.There are a lot of options provided under the preferences section for customization.

Audaciuous is highly expandable and is highly recommended.It is much better than Xmms.

Uplaod your pics to Fickr without using a web-browser with "Postr".

When you open up Flickr Uploader from the Graphics menu for the first time,it asks you to log in your flickr account.Once you log in to you account,allow Postr to have access to your account.Sign out after granting Postr access to your Flickr account.
Postr would retain your account until you wish to switch to a new account which can be done from the File menu.
Now,whenever you open Postr or Flickr Uploader,you can simply add photos and upload them.You donot need to sign in unless you reboot your system.
From the file menu in Postr,click on "Add Photos" to select the image files you wish to upload.You can give your pics titles ,description and even set tags.
Postr allows you to send your pics to groups and set safety features.It does almost everything that you wish to do with your pics.

Get Intrelogic installed on your system.
Interlogic is a wonderful game that is very enjoyable and gets you to apply some logic also.The idea is very old and simple;you have to collect balls of same colour.
The method of the movement of the bug and the maze that you get into makes this game interesting.The bug can be moved only in four regular directions.So you have to keep in mind the peripheral spaces to combine similar coloured balls.Also keep in mind that you can not move two balls at a time.
Do not be in a hurry.Just apply some logic before moving.
